Your privacy matters. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the controls and rights you have. It applies to the Fondly app and fondlydating.com.

1. Information We Collect

When you create a Fondly account we collect your phone number, name, date of birth, gender, email address, photographs, and location data. We also collect information you provide in your profile such as your bio, interests, religion, height, education, profession, and relationship preferences.

We automatically collect device information (model, OS version, unique identifiers), usage data (how you interact with the app, swipe patterns, match activity), and approximate location based on your IP address or device GPS when you grant location permission.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to provide, personalise, and improve the Fondly service — including AI-powered match recommendations, showing your profile to other users, enabling messaging between matched users, and processing payments.

We may use anonymised, aggregated data for analytics and product improvement. We never sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Who We Share Information With

Other Fondly users can see your public profile information (name, photos, bio, age, city) based on your privacy settings. We share data only as needed with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform — including cloud hosting and database, in-app payments through Google Play Billing, image storage, and notification delivery. These providers process data on our behalf under data-protection agreements.

4. Your Privacy Controls

You control who sees your full name (first name + initial vs. full name display). You can hide your profile from search temporarily using the "Pause" feature. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, photos, messages, and matches within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer where required by law (e.g., transaction records for tax purposes).

6. Safety Features

Fondly implements photo verification to confirm users are who they claim to be. Our AI-powered content moderation system automatically detects and removes inappropriate content, fake profiles, and scam behaviour.

Users can report and block other users at any time. Reported accounts are reviewed by our team within 24 hours. Users found violating community guidelines may have their profiles suspended or permanently banned.

We use trust scores to identify suspicious behaviour patterns. Accounts flagged for serious or repeated violations may be automatically placed on hold pending review; you will be notified and can appeal. Permanent bans are applied after review in line with our community guidelines.

7. Data Security

All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a cost factor of 12. Authentication tokens expire and rotate automatically. Payment credentials are never stored on our servers — they are handled entirely by PCI-DSS compliant payment processors.

8. Children's Privacy

Fondly is strictly for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in servers located outside your country of residence (including Singapore, the United States, and the European Union). We ensure that all cross-border data transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including the use of Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where required by the GDPR.

10. Your Rights (Region-Specific)

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data protection laws:

🇪🇺 European Union / EEA (GDPR):
• Right to access, correct, or delete your personal data
• Right to data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
• Right to restrict or object to processing
• Right to withdraw consent at any time
• Right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority

🇬🇧 United Kingdom (UK GDPR):
Same rights as EU GDPR above. Our data protection practices comply with the UK Data Protection Act 2018.

🇮🇳 India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act):
• Right to access, correct, and erase your personal data
• Right to nominate a person to exercise rights on your behalf

🌍 All other countries:
We respect the data protection laws of your jurisdiction. If your country grants you additional rights beyond what is listed here, those rights are preserved. Contact us to exercise them.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of Fondly after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
